Wah Trip

November 18th, 2004 / 4:35 PM / Wah

It’s My second day here. I have to go back the day after tomorrow and then leave for Multan. My younger cousins have took a fascination for the camera phone but I am finding it a little lacking where it comes a lot of pictures. I needed computer to save all those images and have enough room to keep taking pictures in the long run. that is why hopefully in a few months I would get rid of this phone and shift  do a phone that has expandable storage. I went to the village yesterday evening. I had met my grandfather's brother. I asked him to come to Lahore and spend a few days there. although he has said that he would but he has not specified the date that when would he. The rule of the military dictator has made a lot of new check posts and barricades on the way to my village anyone on the way to Rawalpindi or Islamabad. I wanted to meet Bilal but he had gone with his father somewhere south where a few family members from his father's side live. I wish the next time when I come here I am able to meet him and see whether his passion for cricket is still the same or not. I'm at Chachu at the bus station. He is the one who picked me up from the bus terminal and dropped me home. But his boss has taken him to Sakardu. And he won’t be back until the start of next week. I called Lala and asked him about my attendance which is still being marked present. That is a good sign. I know that I can still skip a few more days without any trouble. But I am already starting to feel very bored here. Only if there was a better internet connection here to keep me occupied. I took a photo of my grandfather with my new phone. For him a new piece of technology is no less than magic. Maybe when I'm old I also find myself being shocked at the site of advancements of technology. I hope by the time I'm old, time travel becomes a reality so that I can go back in time and talk some sense to my own self and meet people meeting home is not possible anymore. After finishing writing this on my diary I will go to have some chaat. Although I have found a very sizzling and amazing flavour in Samanabad, Lahore, this has its own unique signature which  the one in Lahore cannot match. It is like falling in love with two different women who cannot be like each other but they both have a signature flavour which is hard to replicate.

I just got my first camera phone. I wanted to get one back when I went home. but the restrictions there are too stiff. I had been using my n-gage for the last couple of months but the lack of a camera is what makes me feel that it's really like that one element which if it had would make it the best phone on the market. I called Mani for suggestion and he suggested me to buy a Sony Ericsson. Lala and me came from the hostel and after having that thick rabri milk from Rahat Bakery, we went to a shop and bought the phone. When we were coming out we met a friend from my school. He was also in the same group but he told us that he had given up studying and got married last week. And he had come to the same place to buy a phone for the sister of his wife. Thank god I am not married being otherwise this phone would also be taken away from me or at least each folder along the inbox would be scanned on a daily basis. Lala is asking me to go to Mailsi with him. But soon I have to make a trip to Wah. After that if God wills, we will go to Mailsi together. Rasheed Sahab came to our room in the afternoon and he told us that some people have complained that he being an employee of another block of hostel comes to look after our room which happens to be in another block and only the employees of this block are allowed to work for us. This has earned him a few enemies. He is a good person and that is why we don't want to give him up. We have asked him to hold on for a few days and we will increase his salary. It is difficult to find a person like him who looks after so well.
